Spilled a full cup of scolding hot tea in my computer however. I have a water cooler attached to my EVGA 970. But I mounted the water cooler fan on top on my system my cup of tea spilled directly onto the water cooled fan my system immediately shut down and tried rebooting within a second so I quickly pulled the power cable out turned every off disconnect everything and then I started taking parts out. I was just wondering what the best course of action is it Ian currrently in parts sitting in my closet and I am going to leave it there for a few days. One piece of my ram is wet, the skeleton of my cpu cooler has bits on tea inside it, it's a cooler master cooler and my graphics card has tea dripping out of it as well as the cooler itself. Any tips would be appreciated I am ordered a computer building kit and some isopropyl 99% and some heat sink just incase. Any other tips regarding when I initially clean it all and try and turn I think back on or should I turn it back on? Can I damage it more? Also do EVGA cover for spills can't find any info. Thanks

You will want to remove the RAM and any other components that got wet and allow them to air dry for a day or 2. I would also find a fan and blow it into your case to promote drying as much as possible. This all depends on how much liquid actually made it onto PCB or components themselves. Don't forget about your power supply, also.

Ok so I have cleaned my pic and let evoparation take place after the last 2 days. I have put it back together however I have plugged my old graphics card in, upon startup I have no video to my monitor it starts up and turns off with the power button ok but I'm guesssing because it's not getting video from a new graphics card that my motherboard is fried? Correct me if I alcohol wrong but I probably am I don't know that much about PCS. I daren't put my old graphics card in just yet I want to use my old working card to fault find. Any tips. Thanks

Depending on if you had anything in the tea, just drying the parts may not be enough.
- Milk contains fat and alkaline calcium, both of which may leave residue.
- Sugar melted in the tea may form a had residue.
- Lemon is acid and may hence cause corrosion.

I used full fat milk in my tea and 2 sugars. It was right out of the kettle so it was super hot literally 30 seconds old. I have since been fault finding and now know that the keyboard and mouse USB ports do. It work would this be a motherboard problem or a motherboard and case problem what will I need to buy if not both. Thanks.

I would try to remove any residue with cotton tipped swabs and boiling water (to make sugar and fat melt again). All parts removed. Then let them dry a few days, before trying them in the computer.
