My grandma has for a few days been having troubles with accessing her emails. I discovered that's due to her pc not being able to connect to any webpage. It connects to her wireless network fine (although when I did some digging in setting etc it said it was a public network??), however no connection to any website can be established. Even traceroute has time outs and on one hop had extraordinarily high ping whilst attempting to connect to google or talktalk I forgot.

I've tried other usual things such as restarting the router/pc etc and using numerous windows network troubleshooting tools to no avail.

The thing that confuses me most, however, is that I can connect my phone to the network and use it fine. This is in fact how I'm creating this thread right now. This leads me to believe it might be something to do with her network card??

I have no clue what might be causing this issue as I'm not all that great with network related stuffs so any help would be greatly appreciated thanksss

Solution
from a elevated command prompt, type this in , run it then restart.

netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt

Then run a Malwarebytes scan and delete what it finds, followed by an ADWCleaner cleanup
I have read the post, and it states that OP can connect to wifi but not internet, it all states that OP can connect their phone to internet via same wifi.
It however does not state in any way that the computer was tested hard wired.

Firewall settings, viruses, tcp/ip stack and other issues will make both unable to work.
Wifi card specific items like card settings, IP settings, and driver could make JUST wifi not have internet connection.

Troubleshooting 101 - make a flowchart and limit down the reasons for failure. a few simple tests takes the possibility count form 80 to 10.
