Hello, I am planning on building a PC and I'm choosing between KINGSTON Fury Gaming DDR4 4GB 2400 MHz CL 15 1.2 V 37,52 € and DDR4 Kingston HyperX Fury Black 4GB 2133MHz CL14 1.2V 37,49 €. Also there is Corsair Vengeance 2400MHz 4GB CL14 38,53 €.
Which one of these should I choose?
Thanks.

I assume we are talking about 2 sticks of 4 GB in a dual channel board ? In terms of performance, best 1st

Corsair Vengeance 2400MHz 4GB CL14
KINGSTON Fury Gaming DDR4 4GB 2400 MHz CL 15
Kingston HyperX Fury Black 4GB 2133MHz CL14

1.a For dual channel boards, always purchase RAM with 2 sticks (or 4) in the same package
1.b For quad channel boards, always purchase RAM with 4 sticks (or 8) in the same package

2. If ya want 16 GB, always by 2 x 8GB over 4 x 4GB

3. Pricing changes very little with DDR4 till ya get up to DD4-3200.

It's 4GB overall, because the guy I'm building for had a very old PC and he says that his PC lags even when he writes things to google etc. He said he will use this PC for web browsing, mail, youtube, etc so if he needs more RAM we'll upgrade to 8. Also you meant your first right?

If its a very old PC then I doubt any DDR4 is compatible with it.

1. Find out what RAM the MoBo supports.

2. Upgrading, putting sticks from different packages in the same build is an iffy proposition. If the new RAM doesn't work with the old RAM, you can not return it. RAM is only guaranteed to work together when it arrives in the same package after they have been factory tested to confirm that they work together.

I think I'll know tomorrow, but as you said, that mobo is probably old and it won't be compatible to ddr4. I was thinking of a full build, not an upgrade. Are you saying that 1x4GB and later 1x4GB even if its the same kind of RAM may not work?

In 2010, our "low budget build" for Windows included 2 x 4GB.... Starting in about 2015-16, or standard low budget build included 2 x 8GB.

Dual channel MoBos take advantage to dual channel mode which means increased performance. Therefore ya kinda gimping ya build, w/ just 1 stick. Then if you wanna to get rid of the gimp, it's a crapshoot as what you add may not work.

if course if running Linux, 2 x 4GB is fine

So idk the budget yet, I'll ask tomorrow, but he said he doesn't want a fancy computer. So currently I'm trying to make something around 400-450 and 2x8 would cost around 130 euro, thaths why I'm thought to go 1x4 and then another but since you say its bad I'll go check the prices. Also I should search for 2x8?
