Hi I'm going to buy a gaming laptop and I have a few questions about the specs that I would be very happy to see if anyone could help me with. The first is, what resolution is best on a 17 inch laptop for gaming, 1440p or 4k. The second would be if I should get a 1070 or 1080 graphics card. And finally my overall goal is to get a laptop that will destroy the upcoming XBOX ONE X, so it would be nice to get some pointers on how to do that. By the way I'm getting the laptop as it will also help me for work and college so a desktop is out of the question. Thanks

It would be beter if possible to build your own desktop pc as it is cheaper and allows for upgrades down the road. But to attempt to awnser your questions 1: it's a matter of preference and performance and what the display's revolution is. 2 1080 is the higher powered of the two but not as powerful as their desktop counterparts.

Well I'm getting the laptop for portability as I work on the road, so it was going to be the best of both worlds. I would be satisfied if it is stronger than the upcoming XBOX ONE X.

If you don't mind me asking what work do you do that you might need a higher powered computer? Also the gaming laptop might out preform the Xbox one x.

It's not so much the work that needs a high power computer, it's just that I need it to be portable. Since I was looking for a new entertainment system I thought that this would cover both my needs. I was originally going to buy the XBOX ONE X so I wanted a laptop that would be better than that, otherwise what would be the point in spending almost 3k on it. By the way I already have a mid tier gaming PC but my brother hogs it all the time and it's not very portable so I'm not really looking to buy one.

Just spend like 1k on a gaming pic and 300 for a laptop and you are spending less for still better performance. Nobody really games portably on a gaming laptop (unless you are one of the exceptions)

Are gaming laptops really that bad. It seems like they have the same parts as a desktop, so wouldn't they be comparible? By the way thanks for answering my questions im not really all that tech savvy.

The parts are not the same they use mobile processors and mobile graphics cards which are less powerful than there desktop counterparts, gaming laptops aren't great but they aren't terrible. I just personally think they are overpriced.
