Hi, I have recently bought an i7 7700k and have had my h100i v2 for a while. It has worked fine with my i7 4790k and I use artic silver 5 paste. My idle temps are around 50-55c and max temps go up to even 100c. I have tried reapplying thermal paste multiple times, which works making the idle temps go down to about 35c idle. After a few days the temps creep back to up normal hot temps. Thanks for the help.

The old thermal paste was completely cleaned properly and all fans are working fine without dust. Gpu running at normal temps and motherboar d at 24c. Only the cpu is running hot.

have you ever changed anything in BIOS? Overclocking anything? changed voltage?

Go in Bios, check the voltage on cpu that it is correct for the new cpu and not on the old cpu. I am not sure, if the MoBo changed it itself or need to reset bios when changing cpu.

I have the exact same cpu and cooler and idle at 28 and never exceed 70, did you clean the old paste with cleaning alcohol ?, also are you sure the block is screwed on correctly, I've had it slightly pop off before when it wasnt secured properly.

Yes I cleaned the thermal paste with alcohol wipes and then went over with a microfiber cloth. I securely tightened down the screws for the h100 with my fingers until they were tight.

Are your fans connected to the cooling block or straight into the mobo, also are you using the usb cable ?

I haven't changed the configuration of how my fans are plugged in. They are plugged into the splitter which goes into the block. Also the usb cable is plugged in which allows me to view corsair link

tried to disable Intel Turbo Boost?
Found this guide that might help

Go into Power options **(Control panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Power Options) and click **Change plan settings near your plan
Then click on Change advanced power settings.
Scroll down to Processor power management and expand it.
Expand Maximum processor state and modify both On battery and Plugged in to 99%.
Also please make sure, that Minimum processor state is not greater than Maximum processor state (in this case - 99%), because this fix won’t work. I suggest you to set it to 5% or so.

And that’s it, no more Turbo Boost, no more overheating and if there is a need - these changes are very easy to revert. What you just did is created a limit, that prevents your laptop to go into such state, when Turbo Boost kicks in.

Via corsair link can you see the pump speed ?

The pump speed is flunctuating with the temperature of the cpu

And the fans are visually spinning fine, theres either a issue with the cooling loop or its mounted incorrectly, whats yyour cpu usage at idle

Get yourself a new thermal paste. Get either the coolermaster mastergel maker nano or the MX4. I personally use and recommend the coolermaster mastergel maker nano. While reapplying, clean the thermal paste completely using isopropyl alcohol 90% or higher solution. Again i want to repeat clean the arctic silver 5 completely before using new paste, there's a reason to it. Hope this solves the issue. An oh one more thing Arctic silver 5 has a burn in period of 200 hours.

My cpu usage is around 1 to 5% idle, I have tried the power method and at the moment am testing intel processor diagnostic tool. Looks as though my max temperatures are 70c.

I have the corsair 540, with 3 120mm fans in the front of the case, 1 120m in the back and 4 120m static fans mounted on the radiator at the top of the case. This problem hasn't always existed as I have stated.

My only suggestion is to purchase a hyper 212 evo (cheap but effective) and see what the temps are with that, if they are better than you have your confirmation its a dodgy h100i v2 and not a bad processor

Give that a go and see how it is, then you will determine if its the cooler or the processor

Also keep an eye that the pump and fan is working properly or not all the time. Keep the corsair link running while stress testing using prime95. The corsair h100i is a very efficient cooler and you shouldn't be experiencing such high temps. And are you using the fans as intake or exhaust on the radiator?
