Okay, Hello everyone.
So I have an issue with my computer for quite a long time now and it has really been bothering me because I have literally tried everything i can think of.
First of all, here is my config:
GPU: Strix GTX 1070 ASUS
CPU: I7-7700K
RAM: 2x8Gb DDR4 CorsairXMP
MOBO: ASUS Strix Z270f
OS DRIVE: SSD SAMSUNG 840 EVO 250Gb
HDD: Western Digital 7.2 1Tb
CPU Cooling: H100i V2 Corsair AIO
PSU: Corsair RM750X 80 Gold Plus 750W
Monitors: 144HZ ASUS VG (plugged in displayport) ... and 60Hz ASUS (plugged in HDMI)

So here is my issue, and it is a pretty random one!

Basically, whenever I launch a video game (any) I will be able to play for a couple minutes, sometimes 1 or 2 hours. And suddenly, (90% of the time occurs when I am making a quick mouse movement) the game completely freezes! Now for the weird part: I can close the game only through the task manager on my second monitor (Main monitor with the game is locked on the game, even tabbing out brings me back in game) and when I do close the game, and start playing it again, I can play countless hours without a single crash! BUT, if I restart my computer, the same crash/ freeze will occur again...

Here is everything I tried:
Updating all drivers
Uninstalling graphic drivers with DDU and reinstalling them without geforce experience, just the drivers.
Updating Chipset drivers, updating BIOS
Formating computer, and reinstalling windows (secure erased my ssd to make sure it was completely clean) and make a clean install
Disabling XMP
Disabling hyper-threading
Buying a new PSU because the previous one was 4 years old.
Buying a new GPU (i had a 1060 before and the same issue was there)
Using an inverter instead of a regular extension (why not)
Tried with one RAM stick
Tried with the RAM on different slots
Tried playing on one monitor
Tried playing on 60 Hz
Tried a different CPU cooler.
Changed thermal paste several times
(By the way all temps and clocks are fine on both CPU and GPU)
Last thing I did, was before yesterday, I brought the computer to a professional store in my town (Paris) and they tried playing with it, the game froze, they changed motherboard, the game didn't freeze for them at all for 8 hours straight...
I was happy with my new mobo and stuff, but yesterday night, same freeze happened again.
I went back to the store telling them that it is not fixed, but guess what, the computer worked perfectly fine for 4 hours... They told me they had work to do and that for them, my computer was fixed, so I went back home, played some PUBG and same crash... Also tried on freaking Portal 2, same freeze.
They told me at the store that they were 100% sure it was not from the RAM nor from the CPU, which were my main suspicions.

I REALLY AM GOING CRAZY

I don't know what it is really
They suggested it is one of my peripherals, but how can a peripheral cause me to crash???

Anyway, I am in a bad situation, Help would be more than aprecciated
I hope I have given you enough details!

Thank you

Have you tried CCleaner? Do the Clean and Registry portions both.

Also see if you have any malware running that may interfere with the system. Same goes for a full virus scan.

Do you have a lot of stuff running when you game? Stuff in the background?

Have you actually tested the RAM with something like memtest? (one stick at a time for one full pass at least.)

I did clean registry through Ccleaner as well as adwcleaner and even from my antivirus (bitdefender)

(Some people said the antivirus may be causing the crashes, but i made a clean install and played with just windows defender and still have the same freeze)
Also i am excluding a virus because I made clean installs as I said.

Yes I have done memtests and everything was fine
When I play i just have the antivirus, discord/teamspeak, and the game opened

I have the same MOBO, SSD, 1060 from the same strix series and the exact same problem.
I've tried everything.
I'm blaming MOBO. You said, you have it replaced, is the new one the same model?
Also what OS are you running?

Yo you are the first person on earth to have the same issue! /D
Yes the new MOBO is the same model, same problem, and today I bought new RAM and the problem is still there
I run windows 10 education
and also tried with windows 7 premium

Yeah, i can't find anything similar as well.
Worst part, I don't really know how to test it. It seams totally random. All you can do is launch the game and wait till it freezes. And you actually need to play it, cause I've tried just launching the game and go away, but it newer seems to trigger anything.
I'm struggling with this for like two months already and once I spend about three days without freezes. Today I got freezes every 20 minutes.
PUBG seems to trigger it pretty often, at least we got that.

So it is not windows, cause I was going to try win7 (I got 10 for now)
I think I'm going to swap my SSD for HDD so we can rule it out. I've got some freezing issues with other SSD before, though that was different.

Yes we are in a mess haha

In few days I receive my new HDD, maybe it is the issue, but I can't afford a new SSD for now so ya...
And tomorrow I am going to a store to try a different CPU, I will keep you up to date!

Also what country do you live in (because I thought of maybe a power incompatibility with my components to the power given out in my country)

I have literally tried everything, so I suggest you don't bother with this issue anymore and wait until I give you an answer, better save your energy.

And don't give it to a store because those ITs will just leave the game running and obviously everything goes fine when they do that.

I am going to spend the whole day at the store tomorrow to try it out so that I can show them myself...

Also I don't know if you are into video editing, but I found a pretty easy way to trigger issues on the computer. When I do renders, the computers keeps working ( youtube video keeps playing for example) but I cannot do anything on the computer (keyboard and mouse both not doing anything)

I even tried different peripherals...

So ya I am gonna give you a fix as soon as i can, because apparently nobody can help us since we are the only ones on earth who have this issue ^^

(weirdly enough, the issue started about 3 months ago for me, so pretty similar to you, so I thought using older drivers would do the trick but no ... weird)

I'm in Russia, we have 220 V and the same 'E' socket, I believe.
I dont think it can be related to power standard, I thought that it might be something with my PSU though, but you have a good one and you've just bought it (I mean you've tried another one).
I've also tried collecting logs with HWiNFO (power, frequencies, temperature and stuff). It seams to be fine, no spikes no drops no nothing.

Strange thing is it seams a lot like software problem. Like when your hardware is messed up you got more like BSOD or your PC is rebooting, or something like that.
Anyway I'll be waiting on update.
Glad I've found you. Good luck tomorrow!

Oh, and I just built my PC two months ago so I don't know if can be caused by some driver update or something.
I do believe that first two weeks I was gaming without issues, but installing old graphic drivers is not helping.

Hey, I got back from the store with a brand new CPU,
I still have my render lags, but I haven't tried gaming yet, I will keep you update
I am pretty sure it is not hardware related because I have literally changed everything in my computer...
Could be software issues but it is weird since I have done clean installs many times

Ok, meanwhile I swapped my SSD for some HDD I've found. Gonna set it up today and probably test it tomorrow. I will also try not to install anything unnecessary in case we've missed something.

Also they said it might be peripherals, I know it's unlikely, but everything is unlikely at this point, so what you got?
I have razer blackwidow keyboard, steelseries rival 100 mouse, steel series arctics 3 headset (connected via 3.5mm jack not usb), some old sven speakers (also 3.5 jack), wacom tablet. Guess that's all.

The thing that's driving me crazy is why it happens only once before reboot? It does not make any sense.
I\ve never noticed it before your post, but apparently that's how I was going for three days without crashes, I was not rebooting. But it just doesn't make sense.

Yes it is weird haha

But me neither, I didn't really pay attention to it until it got really annoying....

You are going to say "no way!" but my mouse is a steelseries rival (but it is 300 i think) and my headset is the arctis 3 also (i plug the usb in the headset, then switch it from micro-usb to jack 3.5mm then to my computer)

Actually, before I had this issue with my computer, I had an other one, and now I am just realizing that the issue started aproximatively about when I got my headset, I am suspecting SSAudio driver.... I don't know :/

And YES! The only fix I found was to not reboot too :D

No way!

I was suspecting SSAudio from the beginning. It was acting strange since I installed it (I had to add to exceptions for windows defender otherwise I was getting BSODs)
So I made a clean install, and I was not installing any steel series software that time.
And I get a game crashed anyway. But now i'm thinking It might not be the same issue, cause the game was different and symptoms was not quiet the same. It might be just a game that crashed and messed up my statistics.
Anyway I'm gonna test it tomorrow and we will know for sure.

Damn,

Ya keep me up to date!

Also, I noticed in PUBG a buzzing noise in my headset and it gets stronger when I crash...
But i fixed the issue by uninstalling realtek and keeping ssaudio only

Maybe tomorrow try without headsets, and/or without ssaudio

Anyway, good luck man, I am gonna keep testing the CPU tonight

I'm not really sure but I've noticed that when you uninstall realtek drivers windows will substitute them with it's own audio drivers. And ssaudio doesn't seem to interact well with windows audio drivers. All that stuff in headset controll panel (equaliser, 7.1 audio, bass boost) was not working for me when I unistall realtek. I'm not sure if even does anything this way. I don't remember if I was crushing or not with this settings though.

Yes for me too, 7.1 sound and equalizers don't do anything

Hey, I've done some testing today (and by 'testing' I mean playing PUBG mostly) so far so good, no crashes. Need more time tp be certain.
I gotta work tomorrow, 24 hour shift, will continue when I get back home. I'm gonna stay online, so if something intresting comes up let me know.

Hey dude! I have been testing too, haven't had any crashes since the CPU change...
But now I don't use SSAudio anymore, so I don't know which one it is, but either CPU or uninstalling SSAudio might have fixed it

Got to be ssaudio.
Found this post on reddit:

Looks like we're not alone after all :/

Oh damn okay then I think we found the issue,
Fortunately for me, I can plug my headset into my Blue Yeti mic which has its own drivers and not have ssaudio

So I am gonna do that for now :/

Hope you find a way ;)

Yeah, I've got mixed feelings about this. On one hand I'm glad that we've finally found the issue and I can finally sleep well and stop thinking about it, on the other I kinda liked this headset, not sure what I'm gonna do about it now.
