Would a GTX 1080 ti work with with my current build?

I've had this build for over two years now, and I figured it's about the time I need to start upgrading it, especially considering I'm getting into quite a bit of VR gaming.

I'm looking to get something like a gtx 1080/1080ti, but I'm not sure if my current build would support it.

Here are my specs:

Windows 8.1 OS.
GTX 970.
Intel Core i7-4790k CPU @4.00GHz .
Asus Z97 Sabertooth MK2 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard.
16gb RAM.
1000w PSU.

EDIT: Another question, is anyone with the same motherboard as mine using a 1070/1080/1080ti?
