I have a 4gb 1600mhz ram stick and i recently found a ram stick from my ancient pc (2gb ddr3 1333mhz) and i want to add it to this pc but i don't know what could go wrong and i don't want to risk it (wrecked many a pc in my early years tinkering and messing around). So, from what i gathered they should be more or less identical but since that isnt an option right now, i'm asking you guys. They have the same voltage (1.5 although the 4gb says it has 1.5 and 1.35 module voltage?) and the 2gb one has 1.5 as well. The 2gb one also has cl8 and the 4gb should support any CAS latencies from 5 to 11. My questions:
-What would happen exactly if my pc declared "memory failure" ? Any permanent damage?
-Would these 2 work together? I understand the pc would lower the speed of the 1600 to 1333 to match the slower card, but i would still receive the 2gb boost right? And would that be worth it?
-What exactly does "instability" mean? Do i experience random crashes? Blue screens? Lag spikes?
-I understood that ram should be 2-4-6-8 etc not 3-6-9 etc (so round numbers i think? dont know the english word, sorry), would that pose a problem? 6 ram would be worse than 4?
