When I'm playing higher intensive games, my computer suddenly restarts without warning, or freezes with looping audio. When it does crash, my SSD isn't recognized in bios until a few restarts.

Doesn't crash during:
SpeedRunners, League of Legends, Invisible Inc, Hollow Knight, browser use, YouTube.

Has most recently crashed during:
Xcom 2, Witcher 3, Hitman.

Helllo,

I just got your PM.
Sorry about that.
Yes, mixing RAM timings can cause issues and is never advised to do so,
Make sure they are all set to default, if you plan on increasing/decreasin them, make sure they are both timed exactly the same otherwise anything could happen.

The games you listed would require...

Hello!

Make sure your SSD is plugged in tightly, by the PSU and a SATA cable.
The games you listed are really cpu intense games.
Check the Temperature using speccy and check the temp while playings games and without.:
http://filehippo.com/download_speccy/

Also check if all your components are listed, which then proves your PC recognises them and your parts are connected properly.

Sometimes looping audio with freezes is a BSOD, but just the screen doesnt show, but we dont know for sure.

Checked for any parked cores:

Make sure your RAM is installed correctly, ensure there is a gap between them.

Edit - What settings to you play these games on by average?

Sorry! I forgot to mention that all my temperatures seem to be within range. My cpu is usually around 40c at load, and my gpu at high 60's. The ssd only disappears after a bsod.

Ram is installed with a gap, and as stated by motherboard manual. Currently testing each stick with the diagnostic tool. I generally use the middle of the road settings, often whatever Nvidia gives me as optimal.

I'll check the rest though! Thank you for your suggestions.

As a computer cannot launch without RAM...
Take out all your RAM, place one piece in and boot the computer. If it launches then you know its not corrupted. Do this to all your RAM pieces.

Also download MemTest86 and check if theres any faults, if you get stuck theres alot of videos to guide you including this one!

So thats your RAM sorted,
If your temps are good, then we can cross off the cooler master.
When it freezse with looping audio, do you have to reboot or is it just temporarily?

Take out your dust filters and give your case a clean

When you have time, check your HDD for faults:
https://www.maketecheasier.com/check-hard-disk-health-windows/
I would recommend the first option.

Optional but I would recommend:
I would also highly recommend you upgrade to windows 10. I know, I really did not want to, but infact I upgraded it last week for free. If you have a windows 7 key then you can actually use that.
Get the tool on a disk or flash drive then boot it up through bios

Also check for windows updates on your computer.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10

On speccy can you tell me what it states under 'name' in the GPU section? Thanks!

When the computer freezes, it's unresponsive and demands a hard reset.

It started up just fine with each stick of ram. I missed the 'graphic's' section part. I've got two monitors. I downloaded memtest, just need to find a usb to boot from. For now, I've used the windows diagnostic tool with an extended test on a stick of ram that ended with zero faults. Just wanted to get back on some of the other mentions. Currently checking the HDD for faults. It said there were no errors and didn't need to be scanned, but I scanned it anyways.

What are your temps when playing games?
Uninstall your GPU's drivers using DDU, choose the 'cean and reboot' option.
Then install a driver that was a few versions back.
Did this just happen, or has it always been happening?

It wasn't always like this, I've just dealt with it for a couple years. But most recently I've started gaming again and it's made me want to fix it. When I'm gaming my cpu is around 40c and my gpu is around 64c while idle is 29c for both. At one point I did a fresh install on everything, and the problem persisted. I also run avast, sometimes that's given me trouble, but I don't know it would affect me during game play.

The games you listed would require alot of RAM therefore this could be the root of the issue.

Hoped this fixed it!
