So in the last couple of months or so, I noticed that my PC won’t boot when I press the power button, and by not boot I mean literally nothing happens, I see all the standby leds on my mobo are still there lights up and doing their flowing/flashing effects. The PC will only boot if I switch my PSU to “off”, unplug the power cord from my PSU, let it “rest” for a couple of hours or more, and only then it will or will not turn on when I press the power button again. The timing of these wait times and power ups feels completely random to me.
Unfortunately lately this problem got even worse as the PC is unexpectedly shutting down *only* while gaming, sometimes it happens as soon as a new game starts to show the game rendered image on the screen, sometimes it can happen after 40 minutes of gaming, sometimes after a couple of hours, and sometimes it will run perfectly fine for many hours of gaming. It seems to me is that the amount of “gaming hours” I will get is somehow related to the amount of time I left the PC completely off with an unplugged power cord. With normal desktop usage (not gaming) the PC will never shut down. I also noticed another strange behavior: I can power up the PC without waiting if I rock the power switch on my PSU, like literally moving it slowly from the on position until the middle of switch (not all the way to the off position). Feels like starting up an old car ignition system.
At first I suspected the PSU is faulty so I went to the store where I bought it asking them to replace it. It was there for 2 days and they told me to come pick it back up as it’s working fine according to them but to be honest I don't trust their troubleshooting. In addition, my system used to have a 980 Ti which I recently replaced with a 1080 Ti, but still the same issue.
I have this system for about 1.5 years now, and never had any issues with it before.
What I’ve tried so far:
-Replacing the power cord with a brand new one
-Using the power cable with and without a surge protector in the wall outlet and plugging it directly to the outlet without a power strip.
-Re-seated all of the PSU cables to the mobo, graphics card and hard disks.
-Tested my memory for errors with memtest86 (no errors found)
-Reset my BIOS to default settings, disabling the XMP profile just in case.
-Updated my BIOS to the latest version.

Asus Z170 Pro Gaming
Intel i7 6700K
Corsair H110i GTX AIO cooler
Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 kit @ 3200MHz with XMP profile (2x8)
