Hi. I have a Toshiba A505-S6005 laptop with an i3 processor and would like to know if I can replace the i3 with an i5? If so which gen i5 might be compatible? Thanks in advance. JMc
With some laptops you can replace the cpu, but I wouldn't recommend it.
I don't know if it's possible with your laptop, because I don't know if it's soldered or just in a socket.

Actually I found you can replace this laptops i3 cpu with either i5 or i7 processors with a G1 socket. I found information on the CPU World web site that has cross references for different processors. The trick is to match the cores and socket.. Both are dual cores but the i7 has 4 threads with higher bus and turbo frequencies.
