Just over a week ago I turned on my computer (HP Touch Smart 310-1125uk) and it did its usual whir, but the screen didn't come on. I googled the issue and it brought me to this webpage https://support.hp.com/gb-en/document/c03561545

I followed the first step of doing a hard reset, and when I turned it back on the screen was back on.

It has since done it again, and I have now gone through all the steps (apart from turning off SATA power management because nothing shows up. And getting it serviced, because I'm being a cheapskate), and nothing has worked. I've disconnected and reconnected most, if not all, the things I can on the motherboard in case something was loose. I have removed the ram, kept 1 stick of ram (in each slot), nothing has worked.

I've ordered an enclosure for the hdd, so that I can get my important files/check if that's causing the issue. I did defragment it after the first time the screen blanked, but I know next to nothing about whether that would make a difference.

https://support.hp.com/gb-en/document/c02558647 - motherboard specifications (if that's useful)

I would appreciate any help. Thanks everyone.

A coax video connection on the system would be an input for a video tuner probably, not an output. I have not seen a computer with a built-in coax output.

Need to sort out if the computer turns on at all and there is no image or it's fully dead, even a cheap keyboard should have caps lock and num lock lights on it, which would light up if the computer was on.

The screen doesn't come on at all. I've shone a light on it, but can't see a thing. Although I don't know how dim an unlit screen can be. Is there anyway I can check for sure it's the motherboard? Or is it just a case of buying a new motherboard and hoping that's it?

If the system is making sounds when you turn it on and you are getting lights on it for power and mouse and keyboard lights are on, it's more likely a dead screen than the motherboard. Maybe video card, but on your system it would be part of the motherboard. Is there an external monitor connection on the system? Try an external monitor with it and see if that works.

My mouse is wireless with a battery in, so that lights up even when the computer is off. And my keyboard is a basic Polaroid one I got to replace the original, and it has no lights. So those two aren't good indicators of power.
The only external monitor connection is a coaxial input, but when I connected my to and computer together the message on the TVs was there was no signal. And as I've never connected the two before I don't know if I missed any steps, or if it was even possible in the first place.

Sorry, I feel like I'm just wasting your time now.
