Hi,

I want to build a PC and I want it to have the H100i v2 cooler in it. I don't like the stock SP120 PWM fans so can I simply put some normal SP120 RGB fans on it? The stock fans you would have to plug the into the 4pin pump connectors, but the normal SP120 RGB only have 3. Should I connect to the motherboard chassis fan headers? This it the build itself: https://es.pcpartpicker.com/user/NunoJoao/saved/3VgxrH
If you don't want to see, it has a Asus maximus IX Hero and it is a 570x rgb case from corsair that already has 3 SP120 RGB fans, and i'm planning to buy 3 more, 2 for the cooler and one for rear exhaust.
Thx in advance

What I suggest to do is to buy whichever fans you want and put them on. It doesn't matter how many pins there are. Here are variants that will and won't work:

3pin fan to 4pin fan connector on the motherboard will cause you to not be able to control the fan speeds of them.

I would do this , buy a cheap nzxt fan controler it's this one: https://www.nzxt.com/products/grid-plus-v2 and connect them with this. You can control them manualy. Also do you mind if I do some changes to your build? In my opinion it's way too overpriced and you can do some small changes to save some unnessesarely wrongly spend money. I will modify it and send a new link. :)

1. That's not going to work, at least not if you want to sit in the same room with the PC.... the CLC's fans are PWM and the fans you want to substitute are 3-pin DCV. You really don't want to have those extreme rpm fans spinning all day at 60 dbA at full speed

Listen

https://youtu.be/cTf0Vq1j4Ec

Phanteks makes a PWM signal fed controller that is capable of providing speed control for up to 11 fans ... it comes pre-installed in most Phanteks cases. You could use this to control up to 11 3-pin fans

http://phanteks.com/PH-PWHUB.html

2. Realize that the H100i sounds like a vacuum cleaner and gets its butt kicked by €55 air coolers

3. The Asus PG279Q is a great monitor but provides 8 bit color, the Acer model XB271HU provides 10 bit color and is significantly less money

4. Looking at the build, (is this a gaming build ?) it seems to be all about RGB, you could have faster build with water cooled CPU and GPU for less money

Ok i guess thx btw.
I mainly want to have corsair and asus products and i dont really like nzxt, for no reason, i simply just prefer asus and corsair. I like the build how it is and I have no price issues i just want to keep the build between 4k and 4.5k€. Any tips are welcome. In the link it doesnt show but im also planning on buying an rgb strip and cables from cablemod. But the fan thing, do I plug the SP120 RGB on the cooler pump outputs or directly on the mobo?

Couple of questions.: why do you need 32gb's of ram? I know it looks cool to have 4x8gb but to be ohnest 4x4 looks exactly the same and let's you spend not as much money still beying a really good choice for 4 years ahead. About the gpu it's a good choice to buy a Asus card so you can stay with it , but why do you need such a expensive motherboard? What's the point? For this price you can build a i9 build with gtx 1080ti. In my opinion there is no point of spending so much money for a build that you can make for a LOT less. I will send you two modified links to other builds.:

1. i7 7700k.: https://es.pcpartpicker.com/list/XfghHN 3000 euros with rgb

2. more budget friendly.: https://es.pcpartpicker.com/list/HYZHyf 2800 euros without rgb ram and with 460x case (you can go for the 570x if you want so bad, but in my opinion it doesn't makes much sense it's just a case).

THERE IS NO POINT OF SPENDING SO MUCH MONEY!!! YOU ARE NOT GETTING ANY EXTRA PERFORMANCE!

ACER is a greta idea!!!!!!!! IF YOU WANT TO RETURN IT AFTER 2 DAYS OF USING. DON'T SUGGEST THIS CRAP TO THE GUY. AOC monitors , benq and asus are the best. Acer is garbage. :)

You paid a significant price premium for the sophisticated temperature / fan speed control on your MoBo.... You paid a significant price premium for the sophisticated temperature / fan speed control on your Cooler. After paying twice to control fan speeds automatically, does it make sense to spend additional money to disable that feature and control purchase another item that duplicates this function but w/ less options and features ?

The MoBos fan control software is further advanced than what fan controllers provide. One such feature allows you to control how fast the fans ramp up and down. One thing you will soon notice w/o this feature is under varying loads, the fans ramp up and down quickly sounding like you are sitting at a stoplight and the guy next to you is revving his engine. The other use for this feature is when you are in heavy game section, temps on everything rose and the minute the game chills out, the fans cut back but the coolant in the loop is still hot. What you want to happen here is for the fans to ramp down over time such that by the time you hit the next heavy session, your coolant temp has dropped significantly. By ramping the speeds up over time, you also eliminate that whirring sound.

In my opinion the guy just wants the pc for the looks. For this price you can make an i9 build with gtx 1080ti , actualy with even a littlebit lower price. I've got led's from aliexpress , be quiet fans and be quiet cpu cooler. It looks all good. I much rather prefer to spend less on a case (my case is pretty good in terms of quality it's a polish silentum pc company that makes a really popular cases in a middle of europe). Jack just one thing. I am not trying to be offensive , but don't recommend acer to anyone in the future. I know that maybe you had one product or smth. but really I was using their monitors , laptops , pc's and all were trash. EVERY single one was rma'ed. Do it for me because I don't want anybody else to have the same problems that I did. Have a nice day dude now. :)

I have no budget. The 7700k is better than the 7900x for gaming. I want to have a lot and enough ram so i dont need to upgrade it. I really like this boards and has features I like. Thx anyway

You don't need to spend so much to get these features like more 4pin fan connectors on the motherboard in order to control them. Just buy a cheap nzxt grid as mentioned earlier by me and other guys. Actualy any will do. Think about it. It's 500 euros. Not 50 euros. You can buy a cheap car for this. If I were you I would take another motherboard and the i9 processor. I will tell you why. For now 4 cores and 8 threads are good but not enough for all games and programs. This processor starts to bottleneck just a littlebit today not saying much about 5 more years. Let's be ohnest. If you are spending so much money don't waste it. Keep the led stuff like fans , change the motherboard and you can get an i9 system for the same price with your fancy rgb lightning. Don't get suggested by single 10 fps in games. It doesn't metter. In the future it will show up. And if you want the pc to last very long get the i9 and gtx 1080ti. :)
