Very high CPU temperatures on i7 7700

I recently built a desktop computer with i7 7700 CPU, ROG Maximus IX Hero motherboard, GTX 1080Ti GPU and 16GB of Corsair vengence RAM. I'm using the stock cooler which came with the CPU. However today when I'm installing the Ghost Recon Wild Lands game, my CPU went for 95% load and my CPU temperatures were shown as 85'C - 87'C.

Can anyone tell me what could be the issue for this kind of high temperature ? Is it a normal behavior ?

Solution
Make sure the cooler is mounted properly and the fan is actually running. How much thermal paste did you use before? It just takes a lump about the size of a grain of rice; then spread it out. If these check out fine, then there's nothing wrong aside from the 7700 being a hot chip - higher temps are to be expected with this thing. Best to get an aftermarket, like the Cryorig H7.
As for your 1080ti, considering your build and monitor, those numbers are about right.

i have almost same issue on BF1
my ambient is around 27-29
my idile 34-38
my spike on open browser new tabs 10-15 higher
when i played BF1 75-80 after hour around 80 spike 85
then i go in bios and turn off intel hyper threating
playing BF1 2-3 hours and my max temp. is 77 on ambient 27

Although the i7 7700 and 7700K run pretty darn hot, that does seem to be pushing it.
What is your ambient room temperature like? What kind of case and how are the fans in it set up?
I would recommend an aftermarket air cooled solution regardless. The EVO 212 and Cyroig (spelling) are both common choices. Have a look at reviews on them.

My room temperature is around 30'C and I'm using corsair air 740 casing with its stock fans (2*140mm for intake and 1*140mm for exhaust).. While I'm playing Ghost Recon CPU temperature is around 82-83'C and I'm getting around 80FPS for wildlands with all the ultra settings and constant 60FPS (it doesn't go beyond the 60FPS)with GTA V ultra settings.. I have a 29 inch 2560*1080 LG ultrawide monitor...

Are those temperatures are normal for a stock cpu cooler ? and those FPS counts seems to be low when considering about the 1080Ti..isn't it ?

Normally the CPU temp on heavy load will be around 85'C. However, in your case it seem to be abit worrying and abnormal. I would suggest you to take a look at the CPU fan and possibly try to even change the thermal paste of the CPU. There are some cases where the thermal paste become hard and instead of helping to dissipate heat, they actually store heat and become a lump or block between your CPU and the fan.
