Mouse is constantly moving upwards

For some reason when i logged on my pc today, my mouse cursor keeps on going upwards for no apparent reason. Unplugging the mouse does nothing nor does restarting the pc. Ive look at other threads to find the solution but can not. Everything works in terms of my pc and ive ran a virus scan but nothing came up.

What make and model mouse?

Age, condition.....?

I would start by downloading and reinstalling the mouse drivers.

Then try another known working mouse. Try the current mouse on another computer. See if the "upwards" movement follows the mouse or stays with the pc.

Your goal is to narrow down the circumstances.
