Problem with dual channel DDR3

When I put the second 4GB stick, the monitor does not show anything, but when I remove it and only leave one, it shows everything correctly
The pc turns on, but none of the peripherals works, the mouse does not show the red led
I have:
Msi h81m-e33
i5 4590
gtx 970
Windows 10

Two sticks doesn't necessarily mean Dual channel.Are both sticks same or at least compatible if not same ? Did you reset CMOS/BIOS when adding new one.

Try each one separately in both slots to make sure they and slots are working, also swap their places. Reset CMOS during every change.

In that case second slot has a problem. It could also be caused by a bad contact or bent pin in the CPU socket. Modern CPUs have memory controller incorporated, not on MB any more.
