So this article popped on my feed today, "https://www.techpowerup.com/236201/graphics-memory-prices-surge-30-in-august-could-affect-graphics-card-prices", saying that there'll be a graphics memory surge of 30% this August. I was wondering if it's worth the risk of waiting for the prices to go down, or should I just go buy one. Planning to get a Galax GTX 1080 HOF and I'm already seeing that the prices are slowly rising, and I doubt it's still because of the mining hype. Is it worth getting considering it costs around $650 here?

I dunno, I say that HOF card looks sweet! I'm kinda jealous actually as I have a white/black theme and just put an EVGA 1080 FTW in mine. It's mostly black from the top and sides, and I got a great deal on it like a month ago, but if I had the HOF and the FTW for the same price I might go with that HOF despite it being "slower" than my FTW.
Speed differences between aftermarket cards are never alll that big (as long as you take out small form factor and reference cards). So it all comes down to how much you value a sweet white color scheme.
(also that watercooled Gigabyte linked by Gahl1k looks like a great deal at $610! If it's cheaper than what you're looking at maybe go with that)
