I bought a new GPU (1050ti) was using a 660 and after i installed it my sound just stopped working, I have tried just about everything in every article on here, and video's on youtube and nothing i try works. I have tried uninstalling all drivers both realtek and nvidia, tried without a gpu installed, even talked to costumer support on nvidia's website. And yes i have tried just about everything in the playback options and realtek hd audio manager. I think i may have fry'd the motherboard or something when i installed the gpu? and now my sound doesent work. If i buy a usb external sound card or adapter from usb to headphone and mic jack will i have sound that way? i cant use a sound card in the motherboard because i only have one pci slot.

Solution

if you're only getting sound with HDMI then it does sound like something wrong with your on board sound chip because when using HDMI it is using something else for your audio source. maybe the GPU has its own sound chip or something in your monitor

I also have the same problem after installing a new GPU. I dont have any sound from either front or back jacks. I do however have sound using USB speakers. But somtimes i can hear VERY VERY low sound in my headphones if the sorundings are very quiet and all the volume is at 100%. I have also tried just about everything in forums and things. Next step would be to buy a new motherboard. But my kids would NOT like it if i have to install a new windows. So im open to any new input in this case
