I am new to building computers here are my components:

Motherboard ASUS PRIME H270M-PLUS/CSM
CPU - Intel Core i5 7500
RAM - Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB DDR4
SSD - Samsung 850 EV0 M.2
PSU - EVGA 500W White Snow
Wireless card -TP Link Wireless adapter
Case - Cooler Master Silencio 352

I finally got the fans and CPU heatsink to start running. However, there was no beep from the speaker and no monitor output. Furthermore, when it finally started there was a little smoke that was coming out of the motherboard near the fan input pins. The smoke only lasted a short time and I turned off the computer right away. I let it set and tried starting it again and there was no smoke. Just one more thing to add is that there are two orange lights on the motherboard that are both blinking.

I checked out the sticky troubleshooting guide to consider what to do next. I was wondering if I should reset my CMOS. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I tried this and I think I figured out my issue. I tried to plug in my fan to the PSU and then plugged the PSU fan to the motherboard. Would this cause the smoke that I was seeing on the motherboard?

Furthermore I tried taking out the heatsink and damaged the pins to tie it to the motherboard. Now I can't fit it into the motherboard. Man, am I making a mess of this.

Do you know if there is an easy pin solution? I was looking at getting a new heatsink but I don't want anything that is loud as I do music production. A lot of people seem to like the $30 EVO 212 but it seems like it's loud from reviews.
