hello guys...i bought a new laptop for work and casual gaming a few days and im having some weird issues. The problem is iam experiencing high disk usage and its making my system slow and even small games are starting to run bad...it even takes a lot of time to boot up..
i checked task manager and found out that a process named as system and compressed memory is using up a lot of disk...i checked online for solution and nothing worked...i tried all of solutions including disabling notifications to disabling superfetch...please help...

'ntoskrnl' is the name displayed in the properties of the process

laptop specs-intel i5 7200u,920mx,6gb ram

Best case, it's just windows update doing updates.
Just manually run the windows update tool to scan for available updates and let it finish.

Worst case, its a failing hard drive.
Try pressing f12 when the computer is booting and choosing diagnostics.
This should run some tests to see if the hard drive or any other component is bad.

If your laptop doesn't have an SSD, that's likely the reason. Laptop HHDs also run slower versions of desktop HDDs (5400RPM vs 7200RPM respectively). I recently got a new laptop as well and it always runs at 100% disk usage, simply because disks nowadays have a hard time keeping up with everything.

An SSD will solve your problem if you can afford it. Otherwise, I don't think there is a solution.

I dont think u get the point...its always at 100..i even did a reset and it was still high even when no apps are installed..

Windows updates likes to do updates and Windows 10 will try to do all updates as quickly as it can.
Even with no apps installed the Windows OS still has updates.

If you restart the computer its going to continue doing updates as soon as it comes back up.
