Evening Sirs,

So I'm posting about an issue that I know thousands of you have encountered in your time - GPU upgrade leading to no signal appearing on the monitor.

First off - here are my current specs:

Model: Advent DT 1411
CPU: Intel (R) Core (TM) i5-2320 @ 3 GHz
8gb RAM
PSU: EVGA 600W - which I have already upgraded from the original
GPU: AMD Radeon R7 200 Series (also upgraded once already)

Which I am trying to upgrade to an :
Nvidia Geforce GTX 1050
and therein lies the problem.

Short story is this; I pull out my Radeon R7 which has always and continues to work like a charm (suggesting the PCI Express slot is functional) and plug in the GTX 1050 into the express slot, not forgetting the additional 6pin plug going from the PSU to the slot in the GPU.

The start up screen appears saying 'Boot menu / Setup' appears and loads, however when done it then is followed by a fantastic 'No signal' message. This was the starting and continuing the issue.

Symptoms:

The fans of the GTX 1050 start spinning for a split second during the boot and then stop.
The white light of the GTX appears and the red light starts flashing which I understand from previous threads is normal.

Fixes I have tried:
Firstly, I was assured by the 'Maplin Man' that a 600W power source would be enough (the new GPU allegedly requires 350)
Double checking that the new GPU is connected to the PCI slot correctly (it is)
Updating BIOS (I installed windows 10 only a few months ago and on the Advent website there are no new BIOS updates for the DT1411)
Installing the drivers received in the CD for the GTX 1050 while the old graphics card was installed and THEN booting with the new graphics card.

Can anyone please please help?

Thank you!!

Still no luck.

Solution
though if the bios supports it

did you remove the amd drivers before putting a 1050 in there?

edit typed that same time as some one else

try booting in safe mode

if that works then its likely a driver problem
did you remove the AMD drivers? Use DDU to completely remove ALL the video drivers - even the nvidia drivers.

Then turn off pc and put the Nvidia card in and see if it boots. If it does, then install the latest Nvidia drivers (from the Nvidia website, not the CD).
