DVI to VGA adapter works on other PCs but not mine

I bought a GTX 1050ti GPU from EVGA from Amazon. I installed to my PC and it is working fine. The HDMI is working fine with my main monitor. I got an active DisplayPort to HDMI adapter (https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00EDT0072/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) to connect my second monitor(HDMI) to my PC(DisplayPort). I also got a DVI to VGA active adapter to connect my old monitor (VGA) to my PC (DVI). It did not work. So I went to my father's new computer and I used the adapter on that. I did not work. So I went the oldest PC in the house and I connected the old monitor directly with VGA to the PC. It worked. I got another old monitor that was working with direct VGA and I took it to my father's old computer and I connected it with the DVI to VGA adapter and it worked! So I took it my current PC, but it did not work! Please help!

there are $8 cables that are display port on the GPU end end and HDMI on the other....if that's what you need, get one....

Can't comment on any potential mysterious compatibility issues with any one particular adapter on one particular GPU...

Older VGA cuts the wire used for the video card to query the monitor. Auto configuration is disabled whenever any VGA component is used. On the systems which worked you got lucky. On the systems which did not work you'll need to manually configure with a driver disk for the monitor.

I have no problem with DP to HDMI. The problem is that I have a DVI to VGA active adapter that won't work on my PC, but it will for others.

It is a $9 no-name brand adapter, you get what you pay for which is not for 100% compatibility.

You said that you've tested the DVI-to-VGA active adapter on two different computers and it didn't work. That would suggest a faulty DVI-to-VGA active adapter.

No no. I meant that I tried 2 different monitors on 2 different PCs. First monitor did not work with both PCs, second monitor worked with only one PC. Also, the first monitor works when I directly connect it with VGA on a very old PC.

Okay, what about the second old monitor? I am using that one now because it worked with the other PC. How come it worked with the other PC but not mine?

Maybe because the old computer's DVI port is able to supply sufficient power to the DVI to VGA active adapter.

Get a Micro USB Power Cable and plug it into the adapter and a USB port.

According to the specs the adapter has a micro usb port but does not come with a cable. Micro usb cables are widely available as many phones have used them for years.

It's usually on the vga side of the adapter next to the cable going to the dvi port.
