Was wondering if a i7-3770k OC to 4.3 will be a bottleneck for a GTX 1080 playing CoD recent release and/or Diablo 3

Solution
It will vary from game to game and depends on resolution. If you are gaming at 1080P the CPU will probably bottleneck you a bit,
At that res a 1070 is a better deal because you just won't be using the power of the 1080. I play Diablo 3 maxed out at 1080P on a GTX 980 and it is perfectly smooth.

If you are gaming at higher res the 1080 might make sense, or if you just want a card that will last you as long as possible. I've had my 980 for around 3 years now and it's been total overkill but I've been able to max everything out on every game the whole time I've had it and still don't feel a need to upgrade.
I dont think a CPU made this decade could be a bottleneck on diablo 3. The requirements for COD 2017 is an i3 -2310 so you should be fine with that game. Your CPU is very powerful with less than a 10% differance in the newest i7 7700k. Upgrade for sure and have fun gaming.

At 1080p maybe a slight bottleneck. At 1440p and higher no appreciable difference.

I moved my 980 Ti from a 2600K to a 6700K a year and a half ago and saw almost no difference at 1440p. The games I moved over were The Witcher 3, Fallout 4 and Rise of the Tomb Raider. All very graphically intensive.
