Right now I have a prebuilt pc with an I5-4460, Gtx 750ti, a 1tb 7200rpm hdd and 8gb of ddr3 ram. I'm thinking of getting a gtx 1060 and getting 16gb of ddr3 ram. Is this a bad idea? I'm not sure if my cpu is capable but if I upgrade my cpu then I need a new motherboard and therefore new ddr4 ram. So basically I'm asking is it stupid to upgrade my pc with ddr3 ram and a gtx 1060?

Solution
Your CPU is capable of running today's games on maximum settings (with a few tweaks). The difference between DDR3 and DDR4 RAMs isn't of significance impact on gaming, just a couple of Frame rates here and there. Upgrading is not a bad idea, if you are on budget.

I'm definitely on a budget so this is good news! Upgrading my pc and building a new one is a difference of almost $1000 haha.
