Hi,

I have the game set to 'ULTRA' with 'Post processing' just set to 'NORMAL', however, the frames suddenly shoot down from 75 (max on the laptop screen) to anywhere from 35 to 50 and back to normal again at random. I've tried it with 'NVIDIA 3D Settings' set to 'Triple filtering' and 'V-sync' on, and tried the game with 'Ambient Occlusion' set to 'OFF', as I'd read that AO can cause a problem with this game. I've also tried with the graphics set to 'VERY LOW' with the problem still occurring.

Any idea why this is happening becasue I presumed my laptop would be able to destroy this game no matter the setting? My specs are as follows:

System:
OS Name: Microsoft Windows 10 Home 64-bit
Version: 1703 Build 15063.540
System Model: G752VS

BIOS Version/Date: American Megatrends Inc. G752VS.306, 19/10/2016
SMBIOS: Version 3.0
Installed Physical Memory (RAM): 32.0 GB DDR4 2400MHz
Total Physical Memory: 31.9 GB
Total Virtual Memory: 36.7 GB

GPU:
Adapter Description: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070, 8 GB GDDR5 (VRAM)
Adapter RAM: (1,048,576) bytes
Driver Version: 22.21.13.8494

Thanks,

Solution
You'll need to go into the config file and change the ram pool from 250 or whatever it is to something like 2000+. known issue.

Just recently played this for first time and took some time to tweak to get it to work.

So after looking for how to change the ram pool on the advice of burgessanthony I cam across instructions for ways to fix the problem and found that after increasing the pool size there was no difference, however, changing the min/maxframe as suggested in the Steam article (linked below) it stabilised the frames. By trial and error I found that it was the 'Texture Detail' setting in the graphics options that was causing the problem – at least on my system – and it caused massive frame dips even set as low as 'normal'.

This is why consoles are appealing, you get what you're given and you have no choice but to live with it ;) Thank you both for your suggestions. Links for fix instructions as follows:
