Triple Channel RAM Question

Hi all,
Can I use 3x4GB and 3x2GB in triple channel configuration? Eg. Channel A has a 4GB and a 2GB, then channels B & C set up in identical configurations. Will this still work in full triple channel bandwidth or will it drop the 2GB modules down to single channel config (noting that this is a X58 chipset).

Solution
Are they the same speed? If yes, you can try auto mode and let the motherboard choose the correct timing, the board will set the values up that suit it best . There is not guarantee that this will work mixing memory is not a good idea i have done it before and worked for me but is not recommended.

Make sure that you keep the same size modules paired together in banks(usually motherboards use two different colors to make a bank), if you do not, they will run in dual channel mode instead of triple channel.

Further to this question:
I currently have 3x4GB modules in my PC that are Hynix branded generic 10600E.
I have found some more 4GB modules but they appear to have slightly different timings on them. If I leave the motherboard on Auto settings, is it likely to work or am I likely to run into instabilities caused by the timing mismatch?
I have ASUS P6T6 WS Revolution with Xeon X5660 so I can manually configure timings if needed, just need to know whether to use LOWER or HIGHER numbers when manually configuring timings to make the RAM compatible (if it is possible)?

Thanks peeps. I paid for the extra RAM. They are same speed (10600E) just have 9-11 on new modules and 9-10 on original ones. Mobo has been good at mixed ram before i went to ecc ram (had all 1600 running 1333 but 2 modules were 9-10-10 and the other 2 were 9-9-9 timings). If it plays up, and memory serves correctly, i set the higher timing values as manual timings in the bios and it should be fine. Thanks peeps!
