Hi!

I forgot my admin password and now I'm trying to reset it using windows password recovery installed in a CD. Unfortunately, I cant boot the CD. I already tried to change the boot order in the boot menu but still it only open the login page where I need to enter a password. I have few questions:

1. Do I need to boot UEIF to legacy?
2. What will happen to my file if I do that?
3. Can I still change from legacy to UEIF?
4. If any one has a better solution to reset admin password please help me.

Thanks!

Here's the problem offering assistance with bypassing or passwords is a violation of the forum rules. We have no way of proving ownership. If you created the password recovery disctdrive from windows heres a link that explains how to use it.

If you are using a 3rd party program we will not offer any assistance with it.

(this works for win 10, not sure it does for win 8)

ON the screen where you logon, click the power button in bottom right
hold down the shift key and press restart button
this should load you into advanced start up
there "might" be an option here called use a device
Put the cd in PC and click the use a device choice
pick CD from the list and PC should boot from it

hopefully then the CD does its job.

I already tried that multiple times already but still it doesn't load or run the CD. I'm also trying to boot using bootable flash drive but the same, it doesn't load or run at all.

The password is created using the admin account. But unfortunately I forget it. Now I'm trying to reset it using a windows password recovery installed in a CD. Just a question, is there a way for me to access my files without logging in(safe mode is still asking password)? If windows reset is the only way, I want to copy my files first and hopefully there is a way for me to do that. I'm a windows 8 user in q Acer aspire v5 laptop.

After changing from UEFI to legacy, you may also need to turn off secure boot:

Hope you can get the CD booted.

I second this. You need to enable Legacy support and then turn off Secure Boot and it should work. Make sure you set the boot order right too.
