Nvidia Control Panel : '' You are not currently using a display attached to and NVIDIA GPU "

I am new to this whole gaming pc deal. I have a Nvidia gtx 1060 graphics card, but every time I try to access the nvidia control panel it says " Not connected to a nvidia Gpu". I believe it's because I nuse a tv as a monitor and I'm connected by an hdmi cord. Any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

Are you sure you have connected your HDMI to your GPU and not your Motherboard?
Have you tried installing the latest NVIDIA drivers directly from the website?

Yes I know I connected it to the gpu. I have also reinstalled the latest nvidia version like 3 times over and over again just to make sure.

- Did you use DDU to uninstall any previous drivers before installing the latest drivers?
- If you press Start and type in DXDIAG, press enter, what GPU comes under the display tab?
