Hello! I recently built an i7 7700k (4 months ago) and i'm trying to see what could be causing these temp issues...

It's currently running at 4.2ghz, 32c - 40c idle and when i'm gaming i notice my temps hit 84c.

I've changed the paste out several times and even switched over to arctic silver paste to see if that would fix the issue and it didn't.

Cooler: HYPER 212 EVO

Any help is greatly appreciated!

btw, nowadays people prefer AIDA64 over Prime95 for stress test. I used AIDA64 for overclocking but use gaming too. As long as it is stable and temps/voltage are safe...yeah.

The 212 EVO is the starting point for 7700k cooling. Consider getting a bigger cooler if you want to overclock. Or as suggested, drop voltage or drop the multiplier to 100x43.

Lower Volts to 1.265, if your mobo is anything like my MSI the volts are too high, I'm still able to get 4.8 ghz on air, you may also want to have a case fan or two blowing air at the CPU cooler, my case only has 1 intake fan in the front and two on the right and have them both pointing at the CPU cooler.

When i ran prime 95 my temps hit 70c, when i played a game of rainbow six siege it hit 80c. I have no idea what could cause this, my voltage is 1.229V max
