I have a Technicolor 797 v3 and i try to connect it to my asus RT-AC5300 but there is no LAN port to plug it in. It works slightly if i plug it into a normal Ethernet port but then im pretty sure its causing both the modem/router and router to have local ip adresses and then it makes most of my games unplayable because of strict nat types. i cant even portforward the games it doesnt work. Ive tested it after i correctly port forwarded the ports and it still says they are not forwarded.

When in AP mode, does your wired PC get an IP address in the same subnet as your Technicolor router? Are you able to ping other clients or websites?

There shouldn't be any need to enable LAN ports in AP mode, and it's doubtful that the Asus disables them by default in this mode. You could just set it to the default router mode and simply disable LAN DHCP. This would essentially be the same as running in AP mode.

The numbered Ethernet ports on the Asus are LAN ports. If you are trying to configure the Asus as an AP, you'll need to disable DHCP on it, then port forward only on the Technicolor.

Otherwise, you'll need to port forward on both the Technicolor and Asus routers, or place the Asus in the Technicolor's DMZ, then port forward on the Asus.
