Artifacts. Do i need a new gpu?

So i was playing GTA: SAN ANDREAS and when it got darker red pixels started appearing. They wouldn't go away even if i exited the game. This only happened now. I don't have my gpu ( r7 240 2gb ddr3) OC'd and i've put the fan speed to maximum to get the temperatures down. They are around 38*C.

What do i do now? Should I go for a new gpu?

Specs: AMD FX-6300 6-core CPU @3.50GHz
4GB Ram DDR3 @1666mhz
R7 2GB DDR3 @780mhz
NorthBridge AMD 760G
A unnamed 500W PSU

Well if it is appearing in other games too that is for sure bad GPU or drivers issue then.
If it is only happening in GTA:SA then it might be some problem with the game itself.

It's happening in that game. Well, it starts from it. The issue is persistent even after closing it until i restart my PC. Also Black is not the colour that upsets my GPU, but grey sure does, along with some more dull colours.

You can try a few things:
1) Try changing the hdmi or dvi-d cable you are using;
2) Update the drivers.
3) Test the monitor with a different input;

If still the issue persist, then its your GPU at fault.

I don't know what happened but when i moved my pc to get the hdmi out i glanced at the monitor for a second and the issue disappeared. I think the hdmi was slightly moved :/
