Hi All

I am planning to build a gaming rig.
I am confused between processor and GPU. Going for a i5 & 1060 3GB will be way over my budget. And I do not want to settle for a mediocre rig with an i3 & a 1050ti.

Can you please suggest me if I have to go for a i3-6100 with 1060 or i5-6400 with a 1050ti ?
Which should I choose ? Good GPU with budget processor or budget GPU with good processor ?

thanks for chipping in david :)

exactly what he said about the ryzen 3. cheap and the platform is going to be around for a long while. pair one with a 1050ti or 1060 and you'll be good to go for some gaming fun.

if you must though, the i3 with a 1060 would be a great option as well. either way and you'll be nice and balanced gaming rig.

Thank you so much for your response. RX470 is not available here in India. I don't mind playing games on a lesser resolution. I prefer the 1360X768.

So, if I pair up and i3 with a 1060, wouldn't I bottleneck my CPU ?
would there be any performance or over heating issues with 1060 paired up with i3 ?

if you dont mind playing on the 1360x768 resolution so the 1050TI would do the job perfectly. Also i would get the ryzen 3 1200 cpu and overlclockit. Mind you will not have so much fps at first becouse ryzen is a new architecture and the am4 socket is also new but in the near future games will be optimized more for it and you will get the bang for your buck. plus the am4 socket is here to stay till 2020 amd said them selfs . so if a new cpu pops up there would be no need to change the motherboard. And for now you can get the ryzen cheap and the ab350 board

Thank you so much for your response guys.

I guess I'll save some more money and go for i5 with 1060. That setup would last for quite sometime I hope as I don't want to upgrade within 3 years or so.

if you are planning to buy the i5 now you are making a big mistake becouse of the i5 coffelake 6c/6t cpu.. the 7th gen will go down in price rapidly... dont do the mistake . believe me you will regret it
