Hello everyone,

My internet provider changed my modem recently and from that day forth I cannot join or host games. I used to play Warcraft III either in my house with friends using my network or using tunngle. Tunngle opens perfectly but when I open the local area connections in the game nothing appears, and if I host the game myself, they cannot see it. The weirdest thing is that if I use my laptop instead of my desktop PC, I can join and host. So the problem should be in the desktop PC or something with the new modem... I wonder... I d really appreciate any help, The game is already in the firewall allowed programs.. I mean, previously to the new modem it worked perfectly...

Thank you and please help!

You could do that in last case or change the provider, but for now I would recommend you to try this -

1 - Reset your Firewall Rules to Default Settings if you didn't yet - https://www.howtogeek.com/201658/how-to-reset-the-windows-firewall-rules-to-default/

You should be able to allow all applications again in case any settings have messed up on previous configurations.

2 - Follow this tutorial and type these three commands as suggested, they usually reset the Network settings in case something is messed -

https://kb.wisc.edu/helpdesk/page.php?id=6653

3 - This one fixes any problems related to IPs or any Conflict - https://www.lifewire.com/renewing-ip-addresses-in-microsoft-windows-816528

If none of these works, the best you could...

That could be a Port Forwarding issue with your modem, try forwarding the necessary ports for Tunngle and the Game. Windows Firewall only do the basic rule forwarding but when it comes to more specific ports to either join or host, it requires a modem tweaking to sucessfully forward some ports. Whats your modem / router model. ?

Hello Fabio. I actually did that with tunngle already and although the port did open when I tested it on tunngle I couldn't see the game anyway. The modem is a sagecom fast 3686. I also tried to repeat that action changing the port number with the one that shows in Warcraft III under options-gameplay but didn't do anything.

As for Tunngle, although I don't use it anymore, as far as I remember you have to make sure your name and so your friends are not being displayed in the lobby with a red "X" icon on the left side of your nicknames, also every person in the Lobby must have that Port warning with a Green Face instead of Yellow otherwise even if you have your modem ports forwarded, you still won't be able to join their games and vice-versa. Have you checked those? Also sometimes some lobbies in Tunngle are messed and you have to join another one instead, it happened sometimes with me but its uncommon.

A few things to check -

* https://portforward.com/sagemcom/fast-3686/ (I know you'll already tried that as you stated but its worth taking a look just to check if you are doing the right way)

* Checking with the people you are trying to connect if they have their ports forwarded for both Tunngle and Game (Green Face) otherwise you won't be able to connect or host.

* Check if theres any antiviruses or software blocking your game and tunngle.

* Try disabling your firewall temporary and do host or join a game and check if it works.

* As for Warcraft III make sure everyone is running the same Version of the game, same for Frozen Throne Expansion.

Fabio, thnx for your answer: Tunngle is working as it should. There are no red crosses, the face is green, everything is ok. I can connect perfectly and see friends connected. Besides, if Tunngle was the issue I should be able to play with a friend at home, using the same network. The difference between after the new modem and before de new modem, is that I dont see other games created and if I create myself, they dont see it. Firewall is the same as it was before, with the exception made for W3 and Tunngle. I tried disabling it alltogether with no results. I only play W3 with one friend who Ive always have so the version cannot be the isssue.
PD: Tunngle worked without the port fowarding but I tried that anyway just in case. The problem must be in the configuration of the modem. (Im just using logic here, I have no idea about modems or networks so I might be wrong)

I know it's a basic thing but have you attempt on reseting the modem completely to Factory Settings? And reconfig with the basic step by step? Maybe your provider configured something else, or maybe your computer is stuck with previous modem configurations.

If none of these works, the best you could try is either contacting your provider and explain the situation, ask for a new ISP to reconfigure it, or try replacing this modem with another one instead. And in last resort change the provider... although I don't think the problem should be with the provider if you can navigate normally there must be something else with a modem settings, unfortunately I couldn't find any manuals from your modems brand, if you could manage that maybe you would know how to configure it.

So far the only good one I could find is this -
