Hello,
This is my first time posting here and forgive me if this is a dumb question, I'm still learning.
I've been having a particular issue with my Gateway NV52 Laptop. Every once in a while when I turn it on, I hear the fan going but the monitor won't display anything. I've tried removing the battery and unplugging it and pressing the power button for 60 seconds in order to remove any residual power, that didn't work, I've tried using an external monitor and that didn't work (might've been my old vga cable though will retry later). I know it's not a dead backlight because I shine a light on boot up and don't see anything.
Before I take a look at the connector to the screen and the motherboard I keep seeing a suggestion that I am willing to do but I would like to understand why it would work.
I've seen it suggested that if I remove the RAM card and clean it that it should fix the monitor, if this is true why would that work? Why would RAM affect the monitor coming on.
It is my (very limited) understanding that RAM is what allows your computer to run certain programs faster, I like the countertop analogy, where it keeps often used items on the countertop for quick access lol. But if this is the case why would it affect if the latop monitor displays something or not?
Thank you for your time.
