It is my friends first time building a PC and he has selected all his parts except his graphics card, as there many different GTX 1080's to go with. Anyone know which is the overall best 1080 to buy for £500, give or take some. His CPU will be an i7 7700k.

Thanks :)

The gigabyte card will be just fine.

3 fans vs 2 does not matter so much, you just don't want a turbine style fan (founders edition or reference design) that blows air out of the case. These coolers do not cool very well and they are loud.
Honestly, all of the chips inside those video cards are all the same. They are all made by Nvidia.

The only difference is factory overclocks and cooling. Most of the factory overclocks can be achieved at home in about a half an hour of work. As for the cooling, you really just dont want the founders edition or a blower style card. In short, you want one that has 2 or 3 fans.

I would go with the cheapest one that has multiple fans. Something like EVGA ICX 3.0 Superclock is a good card.

This is for 520. It is a little over, but a very good card.

Thanks for the reply! Would this not be better?

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Gigabyte-Nvidia-1080-GDDR5-PCI-E/dp/B01J66BMXC/ref=sr_1_3?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1503182087&sr=1-3&keywords=gtx+1080

Cheaper, and with 3 fans rather than 2.. and he can overclock it himself!

A fair warning: Graphics card prices are really high right now because of ethereum mining. If I were you, I'd wait a little bit before buying one and you'll get a lot better prices.
