Yes, AMD Ryzen processors are noticeably better than Intel's in workstation, due to their multiple cores/threads alongside other features. If you are going to spend that much on Quadro M4000, you better off with GTX 1080 Ti.

Your system looks pretty good except that gpu ya got there. I would upgrade that to the gtx 1080 ti as that will handle 4k really well but 8k it will struggle. So for 8k you could try sli but even then it not meant for 8k as nothing on the market right now to handle 8k.

ya i was looking at just building a new PC and going AMD, but i wasn't sure what i wanted to do, because i know the new 20 series gtx's are coming and im sure those could handle 6k if not 4.5 which would help me. if i go AMD would i see a huge difference in performance (would it be noticeably better) for the money i would be putting in (new mobo/CPU/ possibly new GPU)? im just looking for the most performance to dollar ratio
would it be better to go with a quadro m4000 workstation gpu and dedicate that to editing and keep my 970 for gaming insted of getting a 1080ti or waiting for the 20' series
