Hello everyone, recently I got a 7700k,asus prime b250m-a mb and a single module of ddr4 hyperx fury red 2133mhz RAM and I set everything up correctly but the pc won't post.I was wondering maybe it is because I have only 1 module of ram? When I remove the ram the little speaker on the motherboard continuosly beeps 3 times.Should I buy another module to test if it works with 2 or should I return the RAM and get 2 8gb sticks?I plugged in my monitor to a displayport and yes the gpu works fine(tested in other pc).

Solution

Glad you got it fixed! I did look at the QVL for your motherboard, And I didn't find any Single HyperX Fury 16 GB sticks of ram listed. Other capacities, (8GB, 4GB, etc) yes. So while your motherboard will boot with a single stick of ram, the 16GB capacity wont.

I tried plugging in an hdmi cable into the mb but no luck.I read the whole list and im positive I did everything correctly except 6 which im trying all along because I have just 1 stick of ram.

When you "read" the list, what were the results of EACH individual step? As I said in my last post, we need the specifics to provide a reasoned diagnosis, not a "I did everything correctly" general answer.
If all of your components are working, the result of WORKING the list is a fully functional computer. We need to know what the results were, or we are just guessing.

As I said I did all these things im not a noob when it comes to building PCs my problem is this never happened to me before and could it be that my MB cannot work with 1 RAM module?Because that is the only part im unsure about.Yes it's properly seated but my PC won't post at all no matter what I do from that list. The only time I get signs of life is when I remove the RAM and I get the beeping speaker.

Again, what are the results? Your motherboard should boot with only one stick of ram, in fact, that is one of the steps in the list that you so thoroughly went through. Also step 17 refers to the beeping you hear. These are the "Beep codes" that will tell you what, exactly, is preventing the MB from POSTing. Your motherboard's manual should have a list if these code, or you could list the beeps here, and we would try to help. At any rate we need information, or we can only guess.

With no RAM installed the speaker beeps 3 times then after a short break beeps 3 times again and so on.I verified that all cables are pluged in and all components are properly seated.Whatever from the list I tried the pc won't post..

I keep asking for specific results and you keep giving me general results. Very well, from this point on we are in total guess mode:pfff:
I would GUESS that the three beeps are indicating that there is a problem with the ram. This would make sense as it only happens when you don't have memory installed. Did you notice that there were additional troubleshooting steps after step 23? If so, did you do ANY of them? If so, what were the results? Without any diagnostic information, I am GUESSING that there is a compatibility issue between your ram and the motherboard. Is your ram listed in the QVL for your motherboard (not just the brand, but also model number)? If not, does the Kingston website say that it will work with your motherboard? If the answer to the last two questions is "no" in BOTH cases, then it is a good bet that it won't work with your motherboard. Get some ram that is on either of those lists, and you MAY have greater success. As I said before, this is just a guess.

Anytime you want to provide more detailed information, I would be happy to work with you on this.

I returned the single module of RAM I had(16gb)for 2 modules(8+8) and now everything works fine. Thanks everyone.Looks like this motherboard either requires 2 memory modules or the first one was malfunctioning.
