Really hot i7 7700k

My i7 7700k just hit 100C, I am using a 212 evo for now and I am super worried, I thought this would be enough cooling for just a few months before I can get a DR3 but this is just sooo nerve wracking seeing my computer heat up so much. Can someone tell me what to do? It is at about 50C as I write this, a few 5 minutes after closing the game.

look at the cooler and the x brace. on the brace is a small pin that has to fit in the cooler. if the pin is not in the cooler the cooler is going to be not sitting on the cpu chip. may have to spin the cooler or brace to have it sit on the small pin.

Sounds like your Cooler isnt functioning properly. Take a look at it and make sure its alright. Then make sure your thermal paste isnt all dried up. Re-apply some and check it. Sometimes some old grease doesn't work well. My guess is on the cooler. See if the fan died.

Fan is working well, I just built the pc, but I will check the thermal paste and reapply it, thanks for the suggestion!
