Screen Flickering When Overclocking

For a while now my game specifically csgo, has been having frames drops that it didn't have before. Now I've tried a lot of different stuff to make it be better like it was before. Everything from cleaning the whole system of past dust, to online programs. So i figured it's just the game updating itself and my PC is getting quite old, which is definitely the case. So of course I tried overclocking the GPU, which i believe can be done. However, I've run into some simple problems that just need a quick answer. When I try and overclock the screen begins to flicker and then just stops and the only way to fix it is to reboot the system which obviously is not good. Now I'm not an expert so I was just wondering this. My PC has a 550 Watt power supply which is pretty low. I've read up on some stuff and it is to my knowledge that it requires wattage to be able to overclock which there isn't much left I'm assuming because of the CPU, Motherboard, and GPU. So the screen flicker and crash is an obvious problem and I'm wondering if I could fix this by being able to overclock if I simply just upgrade the power supply to, say, a 750 Watt. Would that fix this? Or is it an error on the GPU?

What PSU / CPU / GPU / motherboard / memory / peripherals / drives are you running? A screenshot from Speccy would work....
