Currently I've got a gtx 650 which runs fallout 4 and battlegrounds at 30 fps on very low settings on a 1440x900 reslotution. My ram, processor and power supply are all up to date etc. My friends have told me to get a gtx 1060 but I don't play games as much as them but I'd still like to play games like fallout 4 or battlegrounds at 60 fps on medium settings hopefully. I'm also hoping to get a graphics card which will last for a while as well but I don't want to get one which is too pricey. Any recommandations?

GTX 1060-6GB will allow you to play FO4 at 60fps on maxed settings on 1080p (if you are going to get a 1080p monitor soon), but, such GPU is overkill for a 1440 x 900 (if you are going to stick with such monitor for a long time). It also costs $275 - $300, which may be out of your budget, but it does give you more longevity for future upgrades.

If you are on a tight budget (and your only goal is to play at 1440 x 900 in 60fps on medium/high settings), then a GTX 1050 Ti will be more than enough.
