Hey all. I have a problem. Just yesterday I was online just browsing and suddenly I noticed the noise level of my fans started to get louder and louder. Then I noticed the CPU temp on Asus suit 2. Normally I idel in the low 30s but my temp was at 50c and it continued to rise to 75c so I quickly turned it of and when I turned it back on again I got a CPU fan speed error. Telling me to press F1 for setup. My temp in bios was 80c and it continued to rise .I Quickly just turned it off from the power button and turned power supply off. Now I turned it on this morning same message happing. Temp was at 30c but reached 65 in less then a minute. I'm not sure what to do. Its been working fine since early June. And suddenly this happens. I checked to see if maybe a cable came loos but everything was connected. Fans on radiator were spinning and i felt a slight vibration from the tubing but dunno were to go from here. I have not bothered to reseat the cpu since I'm getting that error message. The motherboard is a Asus Z270 maximum ix. The CPU is an i7 7700k and the cooler is a corsair h100i v2. Iv tried to get in contact with them but there site is changed and I can't log into my account to start a ticket any advise would be great.

Reseating the heatsink and redoing the thermal paste is a good idea. Double and triple check the screws when you put the heatsink back on. A single one of those loose could be an entire issue for heat. On my own processor I usually only ever see 65 when I run the Intel Processor Diagnostic for a few minutes straight.
edit: sorry I didn't read whole thing through. My answer was based on a normal cpu with heatsink not watercooled. Its still good idea anyway though!

I don't see how reseating the CPU is going to help. That's just more work then needs to be done. I'm getting a fan speed error. Also I just went into bios and under. Waterpump+speed. It was fluctuating starting over 4000. 2000 3000 then stoped on 650 and temp continued to rise. I'm not sure what's going on

Update. I tried taking apart the cooler eventually and one of the screws that hold the CPU block would not come of. It just endlessly turned but would not come of .. The others came of fine but this top one wouldn't unscrew till the others were if and when it finally came of the motherboard stand of was attached to it. I'm now faced with an issue were the backplate is Loos and not snug...is this normal?

Well I'm stumped reseated it turned it on. Same error message. The tubes are defiantly doing something as I can hear it. I have the fans connected to the block and the block connected to CPU fan on the top left of the ram. Yet still not working :(

Unfortunately this would be the second faulty unit I have had. The last time I did an RMA took forever. Also currently iv been unable to even submit a ticket to find out if I'm still in warranty with this as the site has all changed and iv been unable to update my account to do so because technical bullshit on the site prevents me. In any case I think the unit is bad because I Tested a stock 3570k cooler as it has the same connection to the CPU header and the fan spins and I get no error at post....so I'm assuming the actual connector from the pump is broken or something and unless there is anything els to try. I'm probably just going to buy a nzkt aio

monday during normal cal phone support hours call the vendor. when you get a phone rep ask to speek with a level 2-3 customer solution person. let the high end rep/manager know that the unit was replaced already under warranty and the replacement failed. let them know you like a full refund of there product. most states have what called lemon laws. that there product did not last as posted. (mtf time on the box). you should be able to under rma code the unit and have a check sent back to you for the dead product.

I have an overclocked delidded Intel i7 7700K that is stable at 5.2GHz, although it needs too much voltage to run it 24/7 at that speed, and your problem is why I use a good air cooler.

I worked in the computer field for over 30 years and one of my hobbies and passions was and is overclocking. I will not go into detail, it would waste a huge post.

To make this short, Noctua makes outstanding air coolers. I have an NH-U14S. If your case is too small for that the Noctua NH-U12S is smaller and performs very nearly the same, only a degree or so C in temperature difference.

I went with the kraken in the end. Should arrive tomorrow. This was already a second replacement again directly with corsair. I will try to get a hold of support again and see what they say. But replacement last time took over 2 weeks to get and I'm not up for waiting that long. Unlike the H100. This has been a major hastle
