So I've had this PC for about a year and a half now and everything worked perfectly until about two weeks ago when my CPU temperatures started to go up dramatically. Idle temperature is around 45-50C and when I play Dota 2 / CS:GO it goes to about 80-85C, GTA 5 gets it to 100 and above. I am using a stock cooler but as I said that didn't matter till about two weeks ago.

Everything in bios is set to auto i believe.
I haven't changed anything inside the case.
I've checked the fan (it works) and it is mounted properly.
I cleaned everything inside the case the moment I've seen my temperatures are going up and it didn't help.

Also, one more thing that I've noticed is that when the CPU temperatures go up the whole case gets so hot that I can't hold my hand on top of it for more than 5 sec (don't really know if this is relevant or not).

Any ideas? If you guys need more info I'll be more than glad to provide it to you.

Solution
This answer is most likely as simple as changing out your thermal compound. This is typical. You should be changing your thermal paste at least once every couple of years. Some people say you don't ever have to. However, I would always recommend it. Also, use a REALLY good thermal compound. I know they are more expensive, and you might not want to pay double the price for a good compound, but it is worth it.
