Hello guys,

i have an old asus p6t deluxe v2 motherboard.

I currently have installed 3x2gb RAM sticks accounting of total 6Gb of ram.
I want to add another dimm if that is possible (1x4gb) and have a total of 10gb of ram.

Is that possible ?

Photos (link) to my current setup: https://ibb.co/c8kOWk
As well a screenshot of the p6t deluxe v2 manual on system memory: https://ibb.co/dOb8xQ

As you can see the manual suggests as a recommended setup for 4 total dimms, the slots A1,B1,C1to be filled (as they currently are) along with one additional -> A2

I suppose i have to buy the additional 1x4gb dimm with the same mhz and timings as the current ones, correct ?

Thanks in advance!!

Memory manufacturers guarantee the rated speed and timings of any memory to be obtainable only in the kit it is sold in. If you are adding an additional module or another set of memory, the PC may not boot up or if it does boot up the memory may be unable to operate at rated specifications.

CORSAIR XMS3 12GB (3 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 Desktop Memory Model CMX12GX3M3A1333C9

The X58 Chipset uses triple channel memory so it is best to use a kit of three or six.

You can try doing what you describe if you prefer doing your own compatibility testing without any guarantees.

Thanks for your quick answer.

Would it be possible to add RAM of the same exact type and guarantee compatibility ?
So as to fill up all 6 slots of the motherboard. (6x2GB same mhz, timings ) and get a total of 12GB.

What you are suggesting however, is for me to entirely dispose/sell my old RAMs and purchase news, i would like, if possible, to buy additional, not replacing the old ones.
