What is memory bus bandwidth?

So someone is offering me their GTX 960 for around 120 (we're still negotiating) and I looked at the specs, and it looks super similar to a 1050 ti. I was thinking of getting a 1050 ti for a while but if I can get similar performance for cheaper, I'd obviously go with that option.

Both cards are similar, both memory clock at 7010 mhz but the gtx 960's memory bus width is 4,000 bitz while the 1050 ti is 128 bitz.

SO what's happening here? Haha, is higher bitz better or lower. And what does memory bus width do?

Solution
I used both of the cards. I can tell you now that gtx 1050ti is WAY BETTER! The best gtx 960 is the gigabyte windforce and msi version. It doesn't makes sense in my opinion to buy a used gpu for the price of a new card. Get the gtx 1050ti's. If you want to overclock here are the best overclockers for the money.:

They're both 128 bit. They don't even make 4000 bit for anything and I don't even see 4000 in any spec. But you can't compare different architectures as they could have compression optimizations that lower bandwidth usage. Mhz can't be compared because they are different gpus. Nothing can be compared really because they are different gpus. I wouldn't say they are similar and I suspect there are other typos on whatever you are looking at.

Memory bus width x effective memory speed = memory bandwidth. Just like internet bandwidth; the higher, the better.

The 1050ti does outperform the 960 and uses less power on top of it. That makes for quieter operation.
