I am thinking of buying a gt 1030 and I am wondering if I will be able to run new titles with 8gb ram and a g3258 clocked at 4.2ghz even at 720p

Solution
No you will not be able to play with decent framerates. Buy a used GTX680 from ebay for 60 EUR and laugh at the ridiculous EU price hikes on computer parts.

60EUR inc postage and a few % faster than a 1050ti.

The core problem with non-gaming GPUs is that they do not have an active cooler. Without spending another 40EUR on fans, your 1030 (which is already half as fast as the 670/1050ti) willquickly reach max temperature and your games will come to a grinding halt as the GPU struggles not to melt. This will force you to run EVERYTHING at minimum settings just so you can play...

the 1030 is not a gaming gpu

you should be able to play most games

some wont work with a dual core though

its not so good you can buy 1050 if you have a good psu and you can play basically any game you want at 720 high or at acceptable graphics 1080p on most game

Unfortunately the 1050 costs twice as much as the 1030 in my country(Greece) and I have a very limited budget. Also about the dual core thing I was told I couldn't run gta v yet it runs just fine without any crashes at 720p on low setting with an asus hd 6450

It actually costs more than the 1050. (gt 1030 = 70-80 euros, gtx 1050 = 135 euros, gtx 750ti = 140 euros) I have looked at these alternatives myself but as I said earlier unfortunately I am on a very limited budget. I just wanted to know if I will be able to play newer games with decent settings at decent framerates. To be honest everything is better than my current asus hd 6450 1 gb.

Thanks a lot for your feedback but I have already ordered it. I bought the gigabyte oc edition which comes with a fan and I have seen benchmarks of the card and the temperature was not a problem. And tbh I don't care about quality I have been gaming on a hd 6450 for 5 years so go figure...If this card can run some newer titles at 720p on low settings at 25-30 fps I will be more than happy

So guys i just installed the card and the results are pretty good. I have tried assassin's creed unity and it runs at 1080p with high preset settings at 25-30 fps (with some drops to 20 in very crowded places).
