reformating drive after changing motherboard and processor

so this christmas im going to change my curent mother board from a6 to i5 socket the question is after the changes do i need to format my drive?

Going from an AMD FM2 to an intel socket, yes you will need to wipe and reinstall windows otherwise it will be completely unstable if even boot at all.

You may want to just save that money though for a couple more months until coffee lake is out and prices normalize a little bit. You will get 2 more cores for the money.
