Just as the title states, I just need some help. I have 3200 mhz ram, but I just can get it to go past 2100 mhz. I tried the XMP, setting the timings, and changing the voltage, but the mhz does not change. Any help or a guide with some details? I am on the lastest BIOs and my RAM is G.SKILL TridentZ RGB Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600) Desktop Memory Model F4-3200C16D-16GTZR. Thanks!

Solution
First update your bios to the newest one.

Then enable xmp and see if it'll work

If not enable xmp again and then change speed to 2933 (those tridents probably aren't b does so they may not reach above 2933)

It worked! As for voltage, should I check to see if I can get it below 1.35 or is that normal for the mhz. How about timings?

Actually that RAM is based on Hynix A-die ICs and should run at full speed.

Did you just upgrade to the latest BIOS? Tried XMP since then?

The bios is F7 or what ever the latest is. As for XMP, I tried yesterday and it would just boot as normal. Should I reset the changes and try again?

I doubt it's going to work at any speeds other than what the sticks are rated at. Leave it at 3200/16 and be happy. Anything else make sure you do stability testing with Memtest.

Ryzen is still extremely picky about RAM compatibility. I think you're just asking for problems if you try to go faster than the rated speed. As per that AMD post on Reddit you need Samsung B-die IC based memory to go faster than rated. You don't have that.

So I got it to 3200 last night. When I got back from work today, I turned on my computer, and it was cycling on and off. What is the reason for this? I checked CPUZ and my memory is still at 3200. Last night when I got it to 3200, it didn't cycle like that

All you did was enable XMP and didn't touch anything beyond that? Any other overclocking? How many times did it cycle on and off and does it still do it?

If it still does it try setting it at 2933 and see if it still happens.

Yes, all I did is XMP. Maybe 5-8 times? I am not sure I walked away and got some food as it was doing it.
