I have recently upgraded a 2012 PC this year. It's been used every single day since 2012. I upgraded it with an old ASUS motherboard to match the i3, added an 128GB SSD, AMD RX 460 4GB and a 600w PSU and the 1TB HDD. This has been happening for a month straight.

Hi, try the following things:

1. Check BIOS update
2. Check for HDD firmware update (if any)
3. Run a HDD test (both SSD and HDD) from cmd prompt or tools like Hirens cd
4. Make sure that the OS is on the SSD

Could be a faulty HDD. Run the tests and let me know.

Also, tell me the make and manufacturer of the disk drives. Is there any sort of clicking sound? Is the HDD led blinking on your desktop cabinet?

Thanks.

I should also say I'm new to upgrading PC's. First time so I may sound a little retarded...anyway
I looked all over Google for the BIOS update and couldn't find anything.
I checked device manager to see if the drivers for the SSD and HDD were up to date and they were.
How do I check from command prompt?
Windows 10 64bit OS is on SSD.

Also I should say the only installation upgrading I did myself was the 600w PSU and the GPU. When I got the motherboard (which btw is from 2012 or that's what it says from the BIOS when I go onto that screen) I took it to my local shop because I know how sensitive this part is. It seems like they did a good job with it so I'm sure it isn't on their part that this happened. Again the actual prebuild is from 2012 and I have the HDD from the prebuld.

Here is the smart data info https://gyazo.com/1d63b884bd9db9525d6251d3fa301a6d I never hear any noise other than the fans spinning at boot up and I don't know it's real age.

I think that thread for the tutorial is kind of out dated because when I went to the [2015/04/01] CrystalDiskMark 3.0.4 one and clicked Shizuku Edition (zip) it said I didn't have access to that page. Although there is a newer version [2017/08/04] CrystalDiskInfo 7.1.1 with 3 downloads. Again sorry if I'm acting dumb I just don't want to waste time on downloading the wrong version or file. I know a few things about computers but not this much as you can see... :D

Ok so I just realized something after the ASUS POST, something else comes up saying that the S.M.A.R.T Status Bad, Back and Replace. Press F1 to Run SETUP and I run the setup and exit BIOS just to boot up my PCoh and BIOS update is 1402.

If the HDD falls under warranty, return it and get the money or get it replaced. It's not worth to try to fix HDD. You can use bad SMART as an argument to get refund.

I didn't buy the PC from the vendor. I got it from Walmart...good luck me getting any money back out of them for a under $100 hard drive (I still don't even know how it's that much anymore for a low end HDD lol). Thanks for your guys' help though. Much appreciated!
