Hey everyone,

Just gonna keep this short and simple, my current rig consists of an i7 4770k 4.4Ghz, 8gb ram and a GTA 960. I need to upgrade my gpu and I need some good suggestions.
My budget will be around £250-£300
And the requirements I need are:
The card must be future proof for gaming
The card must be power effiecient
The card has to have 4gb vram or more
Must handle 1080p gaming without problems at all

Currently I've been looking at the RX 480 4GB but no idea how great that card is.

I might be asking for too much but it's something I need. Anything above my budget I may consider, but please don't exceed the limit by a huge margin and anything below would be great.
Thank you all!

If I were you and you could stretch to £339.00 you can get the - Zotac NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Mini 8GB Graphics Card listed on ebuyer, its £10 more at Overclockers and have not checked elsewhere...

But in terms of your requirements for a powerful, energy effecient future proof...this is the way to go at your budget (okay, okay..just a little over but worth the extra £39.00)...A lot of card for your money.

Oh...and it beats the RX 580 by a big ammount..

Agreed. The 1070 is closer to your needs.

Future-proof doesn't exist. Any card will start to feel its age at 2-3 years old. They age almost as quick as flies. The 1060 is a mid-high level card. Don't expect ultra settings with all games on a 1080p 60Hz monitor . That is why there is a 1070 and a 1080 AND a 1080Ti. If we could max out all settings with a mid-range card there wouldn't be a market for better cards. They aren't made just for higher resolutions and refresh rates.

Definitely skip the 4GB 480.

More than agree on the Future proof point..

This is why I love this community, quick and easy responses with good reason, just one thing and it may annoy you all, I have the next h440 case and I don't really want a mini 1070 in there haha hope you understand where I'm coming from. So therefore can you guys recommend some decent 1070 good clock speed etc with warranty bla bla bla
Thank you all!

The pricing is so cruel. https://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Support-Graphics-08G-P4-6276-KR/dp/B01I60OGUK and for a pttance more https://www.amazon.com/MSI-GTX-1080-ARMOR-8G/dp/B01GXOWUDQ/ref=sr_1_4?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1503416429. 35% performance boost for much less than a 35% price boost. The FTW and every other GPU goes through a binning process. There is more to SC,SSC,OC and FTW than just clock speeds.

Found it a cheaper than aquielisunari..though it's not the FTW, but still a great EVGA card...at Scan in the UK have the EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 SC ACX 3.0 Black Edition 8GB GDDR5 VR Ready Graphics Card, 1920 Core, 1594MHz GPU, 1784MHz Boost at £399...I know thats a jump but that is the cheapest I can find..

https://www.scan.co.uk/products/evga-geforce-gtx-1070-sc-gaming-acx-30-black-ed-8gb-gddr5-vr-ready-graphics-card-1920-core-1594mhz-g

... I know it is a lot more than your original budget.. The Palit is £5 cheaper than the EVGA..I know Palit, they do make good cards that overclock well. Having owned a Palit GTX 1070 Gamerock, I can vouch for the power and performance..

Thanks for the replies,
Didn't know that the 1070 was much higher than my original budget but I guess it's worth every single penny, but let's say I get a 1060 for games like cs, arma, witcher, ds3, forza horizon and more upcoming games, will I be able to play at high/ultra settings with my rig or is 1070 the safer option. If you think that the 1060 is suitable for me for the next 3/4 years please do let me know.

The 1070 would still be the better option...The 1060 will cut it but you will be on the edge and wonderiing should I have got the 1070...The 1070 will work out of the box now and crush the games especially Witcher, Forza and the upcoming titles. on ultra...and more importantly, if the card is going to last the next 3 to 4 years, I would definatly go 1070 route..

If I were in your shoes the 1070 would be my choice. The pricing(the miners know what they did) is currently fudged and has been for months. The pricing has settled back down to normal levels for the 1060 but the 1070 is overpriced to the point that the 1080 is a MUCH better value. So I recommend the 1060 6GB. If you can find a 1070 that isn't stupidly overpriced (https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814126119&cm_re=1070-_-14-126-119-_-Product should be about $50 less expensive.) That is what I would purchase with your time window in mind.

Sorry I don't know how to directly reply on my mobile, so you're saying the prices of the 1070 is manipulated by miners and if so when can I expect it to be affordable
