Connecting keyboards of 2 laptops to 1 laptop through ethernet

Hi.

I'd like to ask how I can make it so that if 2 laptops are connected by ethernet cable, pressing a key on one will allow the other to receive the same input? For example, if laptop 1 and 2 are connected by a Cat5e cable, I want to be able to press the 'A' Key on laptop 2 and have the display of laptop 1 show the 'A' key being pressed (on a document for instance).

Is this possible? If so, what application would I need to use? Also, please note that the keyboards are firmly connected to each laptop (i.e. not detachable), so they cannot be connected via a USB cable, and I'd prefer not to buy a USB keyboard.

Thanks for any help!

Thank you both for the replies.

@Barty1884: I'm okay with whatever is simpler. If pressing a key on either laptops' keyboards registers on both machines, I'm completely fine with that.

I basically just want to have two keyboards be able to register on either machine if they are connected. A USB keyboard could achieve this more easily, but I'd rather just use my other laptop's keyboard.

I also bring up the factor of the ethernet cable since I want to avoid any lag during keyboard inputs.

@Snipergod87: I will give that application a try along with Synergy.

I also suggest a software called synergy.

You install the software on both computers, setup one as the "server" and the other as the client.
Start application on both PCs and then you can drag mouse point on laptop 1 over to laptop 2 and thus use keyboard/mouse of laptop 1 for both laptop 1 and laptop 2 (except for ctrl+alt+del)
